On Monday, February 17, 2025, SPS Technologies experienced a major fire that broke out at our fastener manufacturing operation in Abington Township. Thankfully, our team members working at the time of the fire are safe and well.

Post-Storm Clean Up Outreach
Once the winds subside over the next day or so, please contact ContactSPS@pccairframe.com if you would like to request debris clean-up service for your property. Today, SPS continued to focus on residential property clean-up activities as well as along streets in the area. SPS continues to test representative samples of debris. Debris sampled to date has been confirmed to be non-asbestos containing materials.

Community Clean Up and Monitoring Continues
Air and water monitoring continues. No changes in monitoring results for air or water since the last update. SPS still has 15 air monitors in place. Six monitors circle the plant itself; the remainder are placed in the surrounding communities.

Monitoring, Community Clean Up, and Team Member Update
SPS has extended payroll through at least April 20, 2025, for our regular team members who are not on leave of absence. Benefits will continue through at least April 30, 2025, for those already enrolled.

Overview of Our Manufacturing Processes
We have been asked for more information about our processes. We’ve developed a SPS Process Overview to provide information on what we make and how we make it, including the chemicals used in the process. As reported previously, the main chemical storage area was not impacted by the fire.

Residential Clean-Up Accelerates
SPS continues to ramp up cleaning of properties in the area. After completing work around local schools, the crews focused mostly on residential properties – cleaning 115 homes today. The crews – consisting of approximately 70 trained individuals so far – are expected to expand by 20 more people on 2/26.

SPS dispatched multiple trained crews to remove debris from schools, parks, and residences who requested this service. They will continue to work with our neighbors on additional cleanup needs for the foreseeable future.

Firefighters Have Extinguished the Fires
Firefighters have extinguished the fires at the SPS Technologies plant. We cannot overstate our gratitude to the fire department and the others onsite, who have worked tirelessly to manage the situation.
