False Alarm of Fire on Monday Evening
- Yesterday evening, a false alarm of fire was reported. Emergency teams responded quickly and confirmed that there was no fire onsite. SPS has security personnel onsite that monitors the facility 24 hours a day.
- The Reclamation process remains underway, and SPS is developing its plan for future demolition work at the site. Information will be shared on SPSupdates.com to inform the community prior to beginning the demolition process.
- Air and water monitoring continues. SPS still has 15 air monitors in place. Six monitors circle the plant itself; the remainder are placed in the surrounding communities. Air monitoring results remain stable, with no detections of chemicals or other parameters at levels of concern in the community – including during the period when the false alarm was reported.
- If you have debris in your yard or would like to be added to the list for roof and gutter inspection/cleaning, please submit a request with your contact information and address through the Contact section.
- For your safety, please remain outside the fenced area surrounding the property. Only authorized people should try to access the property/building. Thank you.
