Updated Monitoring Results

  • Air and water monitoring continues.
    • The air monitoring has had no identified issues since the PM 2.5 identified on February 24th.  SPS still has 15 air monitors in place. Six monitors circle the plant itself; the remainder are placed in the surrounding communities.
    • SPS has been monitoring water quality, and the results have been consistent with the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) results communicated last week.  Community drinking water remains safe; the concentration of cyanide levels in Tookany Creek measured by the DEP continue to decline.  Monitoring will continue and results will be shared.
  • SPS is developing its plan for future demolition work at the site.  Additional information will be shared.
  • SPS continued to focus on residential property clean-up activities.  SPS continues to test representative samples of debris.  Debris sampled to date has been confirmed to be non-asbestos containing materials. Please contact us at ContactSPS@pccairframe.com if you would like to request debris clean-up service for your property.
  • For your safety, please remain outside the fenced area surrounding the property. Only authorized people should try to access the property/building. Thank you.
