On Monday, February 17, 2025, SPS Technologies experienced a major fire that broke out at our fastener manufacturing operation in Abington Township. Thankfully, our team members working at the time of the fire are safe and well.

Schools Testing Results Posted
Based on testing performed by TRC, an environmental testing company, at the Jenkintown and Abington Friends School campuses, there is no discernible impact from the SPS Technologies fire at either campus. Please visit the Schools Test Results page to learn more and download the complete report. Additionally, SPS conducted additional, comprehensive community testing that is being analyzed and will be sharing the additional testing results soon.

SPS Fire – Scam Warning Issued
The Abington Township has issued a scam warning, as they have become aware of individuals attempting to scam the community surrounding SPS. Please view the announcement here. SPS has posted additional air and water monitoring reports to the Monitoring section.

False Alarm of Fire on Monday Evening
Yesterday evening, a false alarm of fire was reported. Emergency teams responded quickly and confirmed that there was no fire onsite. SPS has security personnel onsite that monitors the facility 24 hours a day.

Air Monitoring Update
As part of the Reclamation Process, SPS is removing a number of industrial presses that create fastener products from the building. One of the air monitors upwind of the building registered elevated PM2.5 particulate matter for a short period of time on March 19th. No other monitors – either adjacent to the building or in the community – registered a high reading.
